“No matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.” –Audrey Hepburn
You can be free with your ways?
You can be free in thoughts?
Be free of ties that are loose?
Ask different people what Free Spirit means and they will probably give slightly or even widely differing opinions.
Before I continue, may I also state that free spirit or free will is not the same as the concept of free thinking.
Wikipedia defines Free Thought (or Free Thinking) as: “..is an epistemological viewpoint which holds that beliefs should not be formed on the basis ofauthority, tradition, revelation, ordogma, and that beliefs should instead be reached by other methods such as logic, reason, and empirical observation.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a freethinker is “a person who forms their own ideas and opinions rather than accepting those of other people, especially in religious teaching.”
Freedom to think is rather the freedom to choose between being a free thinker or not.
It is sometimes a misconception that if you are a free spirit then you are more likely to be an extrovert and can be described as someone who just gets up and does whatever he or she wants without caring about what other people. Everyone can be free spirit if they choose to. Being free to do what you want does not mean you refuse to entertain wise advice or you become careless. What’s to be enjoyeed if the people around you suffer greatly as a result of the decision you have made.
To be free is to be free in your mind. It is not about agility or whether you are an introvert or an extrovert.
An introvert can be a free spirit so can any other personality trait.
Being free of mind is in my opinion the most powerful controller of how we see the world. What you think determines what actions would follow.
You are free to make a decision that could change your life because it is your right to do so.
You have the freedom to select your area of influence. You can choose the place that makes you comfortable.
The place you find comfortable could have been chosen for a variety of business. It could be the culture, the weather or the availabilty of certain resources etc.
If you run away from the responsibilty to make your own decision you may find yourself making excuses and blaming other people or circumstances for your failures.
Every human being has freedom to think for themselves especially in today’s democracy and where your freedom of thought takes you is down to the consequences that ensues.
Ultimately, the consequences of those decisions must be considered. Putting other people at odds because you have the freedom to do what you want wouldn’t be such a good thing.
Thinking here is is in the context of problem solving. It makes you ask a lot of questions and it enables you to search for answers. It is not the same thing as worrying. If you just worry about a problem and do not think of a solution then it leads to no where. That can only lead to complaining or waiting miracle to happen.
Think of were you are now and ask yourself if that is where you really want to be. If it isn’t where you want to be, then you better start thinking of how you can get yourself to your desired place.
One good way to drive the thinking process is to document ideas on paper or into your electronic device. Then you can visit each idea or issue and maul over them until you have your solution. There are two advantages to this. Firstly, you can document many issues even if they are something for the future. Secondly, it is easier to come back and resume adding to things you have jotted down before. You can always do this at your quite time or when you are most relaxed.
Most people find it more relaxing when they are somewhere very calm. It may be in the garden as they watch the flower and the birds. It could be on a walk or a place where you are looking through a window and you can see people from afar going about their daily routines. The person who invented the tee which golfers use to steady a golf a ball before they hit it got an idea by observing the difficulties faced by golfers prior to the invention.
There’s something about the human mind that makes it discover new ideas when it is in a relaxed state.
Ideas and solutions might be evasive when your kids are playing with you, kicking, pinching your nose, pulling, complaining of their siblings, nagging you for attention on something etc.
Does free will mean you can only go with your own thoughts?
Does it mean you cannot make mistake just because you applied your freewill?
The answeer is no because no one is perfect. Mistakes can still happen even with what was supposed to be a well planned project.
Do you feel like you can run your race to the end from where you are based on your own free will? Do you feel like you can switch base or take a new route anytime you want? Some of us may have complex ties that can become an obstacle against the freedom to make a start on our own dream.
The result is that the terms of the contract between us and the circumstances become powerful and the freedom to do what we want is compromised. So to be free is to have the upper power.
Become the game changer for your life. Let the product of your life be the brain child of your wonderful ideas.
Part of using your freedom to think is to visualise as much as you can. Let your imagination run wild. If you dream and visualise, the reality can be a possibility. In your minds eye, you can actually visualise how you want the project to turn out. If you can think it you can make it.
So let’s get thinking.
