God is love. We know this to be true. He is the purest definition of the word and embodies it in everything that He does. God extends His love graciously to us all. That being said, God has no tolerance for the things which oppose love. Here is a list of four such things.
Arrogance and Pride
Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV). God made us to be loving as He is loving. There is no arrogance and pride in love. These traits put up barriers in our lives and destroy relationships.
Proverbs 12:22 “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy” (NIV). There is also no place for lying in a loving relationship. God is all about truth, as He is the ultimate truth. Lies are entirely against everything that He stands for.
Romans 12:21 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (NIV). God is the absolute definition of good. Evil is the opposite of all that He is. The forces of evil are determined to draw His children away from Him. There is no place for evil in the hearts of those who profess Christ.
Deuteronomy 4:24 “For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” (NIV). Anything that takes God’s place in our hearts is an idol. For example, if we put work before God, it is an idol. If we put our personal goals before God, it has become an idol. Our faith proclaims only one God, and our hearts must be His alone.
While we are always accepted in God’s love, we must flee from the things above. They pollute our hearts and attempt to steal us away from God. We must cling to Him always.
